Todd Johnson grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, the great-grandson of a rural Baptist preacher. He sang in church choirs from the time he was five years old, and was picked out of the fourth grade to give a speech to the whole school on “Truth and Knowledge.”

Publishers Weekly praises his debut novel THE SWEET BY AND BY as “bittersweet and often humorous...Johnson has a sure ear for Southern speech...the underlying message of the power of love and friendship resonates, as does its depiction of the way in which people leading unremarkable lives can have a tremendous impact on those around them.” Library Journal urges: “You’ll want to save a place for this debut novel...Strongly recommended for popular and Southern fiction collections.”

After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with honors in history and receiving his masters from Yale Divinity School, Todd moved to New York City to pursue a career as a musician. Armed with a handful of demo reels, he made the rounds, knocking on the doors of advertising music producers. A few short weeks later, he sang his first national commercial and went on to sing and arrange countless jingles for television and radio. He has also performed and/or recorded with a long roster of major artists, including Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Marc Anthony, Barry Manilow, Al Jarreau, Michael Bolton, Sarah Brightman and Natalie Cole.
