Wendy Torrel, a retired NYC police officer, a former participant in the peace keeping operations in the former Yugoslavia, holding a BA in Political Science and Sociology, returned to her passion of writing with Guardian of Dreams, where she brilliantly addresses the issue of childhood nightmares in a fable that offers both entertainment and solace for children (and even adults) troubled by bad dreams. Her writing has been described as poetic and lyrical, capturing the imagination of readers of all ages. Received Honorable Mention at the London Book Festival.

It is a short fable about a rabbit who wakens from a nightmare and is unable to go back to sleep. Through the sage advice of "the guardian of dreams", a horse called Night Mare; the rabbit discovers a remedy for his sleepless state.

Adults can use the simple text and endearing illustrations as a springboard for open discussion with children about their "night-time frights" and encourage children to transform the imagery into less threatening and more manageable characters.

She enjoys doing school visits to speak with students about her work and the process of creating a children’s book.

Wendy Torrel will be available to personally autograph copies of Guardian of Dreams at the White Tulip Publishing booth in the Exhibit Hall.
