The class will deal with general concepts of writing fiction.  He will offer a simple guide to structuring a novel, developing characters and creating suspense.  Listen to advice from the masters of fiction viewed through the perspective of thriller writer James O. Born and learn tips such as the easiest way to plot out a story and the ways to making a word processor work for you while starting the Great American Novel.

About James O. Born:

James O. Born is the author of five police thrillers from Putnam.  ESCAPE CLAUSE, was the winner of the inaugural Florida Book award for best novel in popular fiction.  In 2009 the first of several science fiction novels, THE HUMAN DISGUISE, was released under the pseudonym James O’Neal.  The sequel, THE DOUBLE HUMAN is due in 2010.  James O. Born has presented at more than twenty book festivals.  He has taught at writing conferences, which have included the South Carolina Writer’s Workshop, The Naples Press Club writer’s conference, The Rocky Mountain Writer’s Workshop and the National Writer’s Workshop.

Author Bob Morris walks you through the steps of creating a book proposal that will attract agents and fire the enthusiasm of publishers.

About Bob Morris:

A former newspaper columnist and magazine editor, Bob Morris is the author of the Zack Chasteen series of mysteries set in Florida and the Caribbean.  Bahamaram was a finalist for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Mystery Novel. Jamaica Me Dead was a BookSense Pick and an International Mystery Bookstore Association best seller. Bermuda Schwartz was on a number of bestseller lists and won a Florida Book Award bronze medal. His fourth book in the series, A Deadly Silver Sea, came out in December 2008.  Bob’s new book, Baja Florida, comes out January 2010. He’s also at work on HOOKED: My Father’s Tackle Box, Million-Dollar Minnows, and the Quest for the Perfect Fishing Lure, a nonfiction book to be published by Gotham Books.  A fourth-generation Floridian, Bob lives in Winter Park, Florida. In addition to contributing to numerous food and travel magazines, Bob also teaches Creative Nonfiction at Rollins College.
