In-Office Volunteer

Location: The Humanities CouncilSC, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 308, Columbia, SC 29204.
Attire: Casual
Duties: Helping office staff with mailings, name tags, answering the phone, creating signage and displays, event registration, and returning phone calls about the event.
Dates/Shifts: We need help with these tasks for about 5 hours a week starting in January! As the festival approaches, we will need volunteers more frequently during our regular office hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please call the office to arrange a time: 803-771-2477, or we will contact you directly to coordinate.

Volunteer Web Designer

Duties: The SCBook Festival needs assistance with a special new Web project. If you have skills in or knowledge of Web design, we could use your help!
Dates/Shifts: We need help with this special task starting immediately. Please contact the office if you are interested or would like more information: 803-771-2477.

Passing out Book Festival posters and bookmarks prior to the SCBook Festival

Location: Anywhere you live, across the state!
Attire: Casual
Duties: Passing out Book Festival promotional posters and bookmarks in establishments near where you live: the public library and branches, book stores, specialty stores, community centers, etc. We especially need help from people who live outside of Columbia. We will mail you the materials for you to distribute in your community. Please send us a list via email of places where materials were posted as soon as placement is made: tjwallace@schumanities.org.
Dates/Shifts: We need help with this task any time in January through early February. Once you receive the materials, you can distribute them at your convenience.

Exhibitor Set-Up and Breakdown

Location: Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, 29201. (Downtown in the Vista)
Attire: Casual (for more physical activity)
Duties: The duties are more physical and include assistance with loading/unloading materials for exhibitor booths and directing the exhibitors to their booths.
Dates/Shifts:
Friday, February 26th: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (or any amount of time you can give)
Sunday, February 28th: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

During the SCBook Festival 2010: "Event Volunteer Staffing"

Location: Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, 29201. (Downtown in the Vista)
Attire: Comfortable Business Casual. We will provide a t-shirt for you, so please wear a top that allows for a t-shirt over it, or be prepared to change. Comfortable shoes are especially useful.
Duties: There duties are mostly physically light and social. Please see below for a more thorough list of jobs available during the Festival.
Dates/Shifts:
Saturday, Feb. 27th: 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM | 11:00 AM to 1:45 PM | 1:45 PM to 5:30 PM
Sunday, Feb. 28th: 10:45 AM to 1:45 PM | 1:45 PM to 5:00 PM
